Tim Burton's 'Frankenweenie' to acquire Imax run
Imax finds an ideal marriage between family and fanboy in Tim Burton's 3d animated film "Frankenweenie," which will have the Imax treatment when Disney bows the film worldwide on March. 5. The mega-screen exhib, which recently moved on from delivering family films, has focused its efforts almost exclusively on genre fare. "Frankenweenie" -- the stop-motion feature remake of Burton's 1984 live-action short -- can be a fanboy film, based on common Burton fans as well as the original's cult-like recognition. But grown ups and kids must also spark for the 3d toon.
